The Making of An Artist
It was his grandfather who should be given the credit for helping him reach the zenith of success. He introduced his grandson to swing music by letting him hear terrific numbers of Ella Fitzgerald, the Mills Brothers, Frank Sinatra, and other artists of that time.
Growing up in an environment of music helped Buble recognize his own talent early in life. He knew only one thing: he was made for music! And it was not conventional music; he wanted to venture into the world of rock ‘n’ roll which was alien at that time. He wanted to give concerts and perform on stage. He had the desire to feel the pulse of the audience going crazy. His grandfather helped him learn several tunes. He sang in many local bands as a guest to get exposure to the world of singing.
It was when he was awarded the Canadian Youth Talent Search award, during his teens, that he got a big break. During this time, he released several albums and also performed in Swing, a musical review that toured throughout America. It was at this time that Canadian producer David Foster, a Grammy award winner, noticed him. The rest is history.
The First Break
Mr. Buble got his first big recording contract and released his debut album. In 2003, his self-titled album created waves in the recording world. It contained fabulous jazz versions of hit numbers such as ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ and ‘Fever’. Besides this, the classic song of Van Morrison ‘Moondance’ and the smashing hit of Bee Gee’s ‘How Can You Mend A Broken Heart’ were also sung in a swing version by Michael.
