The Odd Couple Basic Facts
The Comedy theater show The Odd Couple opened on Broadway October 27, 2005 and closes April 2nd 2006. The story is based on the classic Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple". The classic made part of American Television history for it's hilarious sitcom featuring the characters Oscar Madison and Felix Unger, two complete opposites, who are roommates and best friends. One a neat freak and the other a complete slob.

The long awaited and talked about Broadway theater event starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick has opened in New York. The revival of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple, directed by Joe Mantello is a Broadway comedy telling the story of two divorced roommates who are complete opposites. One is an organized clean neat freak bordering on OCD, while the other is a complete slob without a worry in the world.
Lane and Broderick would play Oscar Madison and Felix Unger. Lane is playing Oscar Madison, the sloppy sportswriter and Broderick is playing Felix Unger, an uptight perfectionist photographer.
Nathan Lane is know amateur at the New York Broadway scene, he has won 2 Tony awards for his work in "The Producers" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"
He has also worked in many other theater events including "Merlin" and "Guys and Dolls"
Matthew Broderick also is no stranger to Broadway with two Tony Awards for his performances in "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and the "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying". He was also recognized with a nomination for his "The Producers" performance. Other theater shows he has worked and performed in include The Widow Claire, Biloxi Blues, Taller Than a Dwarf, Night Must Fall, Torch Song Trilogy.
The revival of The Odd Couple on the famous New York Broadway comes about 40 years after the original Plymouth Theater opening in March of 1965.
Art Carney played Felix and Walter Matthau starred as Oscar. The original production won 4 Tony's in 1965 including Mike Nichols for Direction and Oliver Smith for the Scenic Design. Matthau aslo won a Tony for his performance and went onto continue the character in the sitcom which came out a few years latter, and went on to be an American icon and part of television history.
