Imperial Theatre Information

The Imperial theatre is a classic and tradition New York Broadway theater. Located in the heart of the Broadway theater scene.

The seating capacity is 1421 seats with a Proscenium stage. For comfort, Restrooms are up one flight of stairs of the theater, and a pay phone is located in the lobby.


The Imperial Theatre in New York is a well know venue for the Broadway theater scene. Known for playing some of the more popular musical and theater shows when they open. A very classical and traditional theater venue for The Dirty Rotten Scoundrels venue.

The Imperial is air conditioned and does offer wheelchair seating, restrooms and assisted listening systems for the hard of hearing.



Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Basic Facts

Based on the 1988 hit movie, the musical version has made it's way to Broadway. The story focuses on two con men in the French Riviera, Lawrence Jameson (played by John Lithgow)who scams women out of money and Freddy Benson (played by Norbert Leo Butz), who uses a more sympathetic approach.

Running time is 2 hours and 40 minutes with 1 intermission


Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Storyline

The story of two con men with big dreams of making it rich by conning women out of their fortunes. Freddie Benson and Lawrence Jameson both have different approaches to accomplish the same goal, while Freddie uses sympathy over is ill grandmother to get women to feel sorry for him, Lawrence is a sweet talker who woos women over and has them throwing their money to him.


Bases in the French Riviera, home of plenty of wealthy women, the two men realize there is not enough room for the both of them, so they make a bet and the winner will get the most desired con artist land all to their own.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has made a nice home for itself on Broadway. Shows sell out and audiences rave about the humor and storyline. It has quickly gained the reputation as a must see Broadway theater event.

Here is the official press release and it's description,"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels centers on two con men living on the French Riviera. The first is suave and sophisticated con artist Lawrence Jameson (played by John Lithgow), who makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money. The other, a smalltime crook named Freddy Benson (played by Norbert Leo Butz), more humbly swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother's failing health. After meeting on a train, they unsuccessfully attempt to work together only to find that this small French town isn't big enough for the two of them. They agree on a settlement: the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female target, heiress Christine Colgate, wins and the other must leave town. A hilarious battle of cons ensues, bringing out the best and worst in each man.
